Rose petal soap feels luxurious without being complicated. Just melt, mix, pour, and let it set. The dried petals add a delicate, natural aesthetic that makes each bar look handcrafted and special.
Ingredients (Makes 4–6 small bars, depending on mold size)
-
450g (1 lb) melt-and-pour soap base
(sheas butter, goat milk, or clear glycerin; your choice) -
1–2 tbsp NPG Dried Rose Petals
(use less for a minimal look, more for a botanical finish) -
1 tsp carrier oil (optional)
(sweet almond, jojoba, or coconut oil for extra conditioning) -
10–20 drops skin-safe fragrance oil
(rose, vanilla, or lavender blends beautifully) -
Soap colorant (optional)
(a tiny amount of pink or blush mica for a soft feminine tone) -
Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle (optional but recommended)
(removes bubbles and helps layers stick)
Tools
-
Microwave-safe measuring cup or double boiler
-
Silicone spatula
-
Soap mold (silicone molds are easiest)
-
Small spoon for sprinkling petals
-
Paper towels for cleanup

Directions
1) Prep your workspace
-
Clean your counter and tools.
-
Set out your soap mold on a flat tray or board so you can move it easily.
-
Lightly sprinkle a few NPG Dried Rose Petals into the mold if you want petals visible on the top surface.
Tip: For a clean, elevated look, use petals sparingly. Think “curated,” not crowded.
2) Cut and melt the soap base
-
Cut the melt-and-pour base into small cubes (melts faster and more evenly).
-
Melt in the microwave in 20–30 second bursts, stirring between bursts, until fully liquid.
(Or melt gently using a double boiler.)
Important: Do not boil, overheating can cause sweating or cloudiness.
3) Mix in your add-ins (optional)
Once melted, stir in:
-
1 tsp carrier oil (optional)
-
10–20 drops fragrance oil (optional)
-
A tiny pinch of colorant (optional)
Stir gently to reduce bubbles.
4) Add rose petals (the right way)
Rose petals can sometimes float or discolor if mixed into very hot soap.
To keep petals looking pretty:
-
Let the soap cool for 1–2 minutes after melting (still pourable, but not steaming).
-
Stir in ½ to 1 tbsp rose petals for a soft botanical effect inside the bar.
5) Pour into the mold
-
Slowly pour the soap into your mold.
-
If bubbles appear on the surface, lightly spray rubbing alcohol.
6) Decorate the top
-
Sprinkle the remaining NPG Dried Rose Petals on top for a premium look.
-
Spray rubbing alcohol again to help petals adhere and reduce bubbles.
Pro styling tip: Place petals intentionally, cluster a few in one corner for a modern, minimalist design.
7) Let set and unmold
-
Let the soap cool and harden at room temperature for 2–4 hours.
-
For faster setting, refrigerate for 20–30 minutes, but avoid leaving it too long (can cause condensation).
Once fully firm, gently unmold.
Storage & Packaging Tips
-
Wrap bars tightly in plastic wrap or shrink wrap to prevent “glycerin dew” (sweating).
-
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
-
For gifting, use Kraft boxes, ribbon, and a small label such as “Handmade Rose Petal Soap.”
